Extracted honey shall be processed under sanitary conditions in accordance with good manufacturing practice. The product shall show no evidence of decomposition, fermentation or other similar condition.
Shipping containers shall be sound and clean and shall conform to the applicable provision of the U.S. standards for condition of food containers. Reusable containers shall be properly sanitized prior to packing and; under no circumstances shall acceptance be made of those with possible adulteration with objectionable odor of flavor from previous use of container. The expected shelf life shall be six months.
Note: The storage of honey at elevated temperatures will cause darkening and flavor loss; at lower temperatures may cause crystallization. Preferable storage temperature is 60° to 70° F.
